Short version: RiverTrax displays public government river data to help you make informed decisions outdoors. Use it as one input among many — not as a substitute for official warnings or your own judgment. River conditions can change fast.
Acceptance of Terms
By downloading or using RiverTrax, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. Continued use of RiverTrax after any updates to these terms constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
What RiverTrax Is
RiverTrax is an iOS app developed and operated by TraxLabs LLC that displays real-time and historical river gauge data sourced from public APIs operated by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the National Weather Service (NWS/NOAA). The app also provides a personal River Journal for recording your own observations.
RiverTrax is an informational tool. It is not an emergency management service, a flood warning system, or a safety authority of any kind.
Data Accuracy and Limitations
River gauge data displayed in RiverTrax is retrieved in real time from USGS and NOAA systems. TraxLabs LLC does not generate, modify, or guarantee the accuracy of this data. Forecasts are inherently uncertain. Observed readings can be delayed or temporarily unavailable due to sensor outages, upstream API issues, or network conditions.
You acknowledge that:
- Data may be delayed, incomplete, or temporarily unavailable.
- Forecasts reflect models and are not guarantees of actual conditions.
- River conditions can change rapidly and without warning.
- RiverTrax should be used as one input among several — not as your sole source of information for any outdoor activity or flood-related decision.
No Safety Guarantee — Assumption of Risk
Paddling, fishing, and other river activities involve inherent risk. Flood conditions near waterways involve inherent risk. TraxLabs LLC makes no representation that RiverTrax data is sufficient or appropriate for any safety-critical decision.
You assume full responsibility for any decisions you make based on information displayed in RiverTrax, including but not limited to decisions about entering or remaining near bodies of water. Always consult official sources — including NWS flood warnings, local emergency management, and on-site conditions — before making safety-relevant decisions.
River Journal
The River Journal feature allows you to record personal notes tied to specific gauges and dates. This content is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to TraxLabs LLC or any third party. You are solely responsible for the notes you record and any decisions you make based on them.
Acceptable Use
RiverTrax is licensed for personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app.
- Use the app to scrape or systematically collect data for redistribution.
- Use the app in any way that violates applicable law.
Intellectual Property
RiverTrax, the RiverTrax name, and associated assets are owned by TraxLabs LLC. River gauge data is sourced from U.S. government agencies and is in the public domain. Nothing in these terms grants you any rights to TraxLabs LLC's intellectual property beyond using the app as intended.
App Availability
TraxLabs LLC makes no guarantee of uninterrupted availability. The app depends on upstream APIs operated by USGS and NOAA; outages outside our control may temporarily affect data availability. We may update, modify, or discontinue the app at any time.
Disclaimer of Warranties
RiverTrax is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy of data. To the fullest extent permitted by law, TraxLabs LLC disclaims all such warranties.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TraxLabs LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of RiverTrax or reliance on data displayed within it. This includes damages arising from decisions made in connection with outdoor activities, flood conditions, or any other circumstance.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Changes to These Terms
If these terms change materially, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of RiverTrax after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
